Why We Use AlloDerm

what is alloderm

AlloDerm is material processed from donated human skin.  The tissue goes through a multi-step process in which the top layer of the skin, the epidermis, is removed along with all cells,  retaining its structural integrity. The structural components preserved in AlloDerm serve as a scaffold into which your own tissue will grow.

After the procedure, blood will flow from your tissue into the preserved vascular channels in the AlloDerm.  Next, your own cells will begin to move into the AlloDerm and begin the process of new tissue growth.  As healing progresses, more and more of your own cells will grow into the AlloDerm and transform it into tissue that not only resembles your own but also functions as your own.

 In the past, the only methods available to replace tissue or other body parts was by transplanting tissue from another part of the body or from a donor, or by using a man-made, or synthetic material.  With the availability of AlloDerm, we are able to eliminate  problems associated with these methods, while providing results that are completely natural.

Advantages of using AlloDerm for penile girth enlargement instead of your own tissue or synthetic products include:

alloderm : safety concerns

The thought of having material derived from another human implanted into your body raises fear of acquiring various diseases such as HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis. Fortunately, with AlloDerm this doesn’t need to be a concern. In fact, in over 900,000 patients there has not been a single report of an infection transmitted from the material.

AlloDerm donors are screened for transmissible diseases and a review of their medical records and social history is completed before allowing their tissue to be processed. The micro-organisms that cause infections reside within cells. The processing of AlloDerm removes all cells from the tissue so any viruses that may be present are removed. Additional tests are performed after processing but before the AlloDerm is released for use to assure patient safety.
